Low-threshold help for seniors

2024-04-04T15:09:21.897Z

Highlights: Low-threshold help for seniors. By the end of the pilot phase after three years, 30 households should be served in both communities. Because the income, 30 euros per hour of household-related services, does not outweigh the costs, Gräfelfing and Planegg cover the deficit. “You don’t have to worry that we will provide cleaning jobs,” says Britta Acquistapace, managing director of the Würmtal Senior Citizens’ Aid Association.

The Würmtal Senior Citizens' Aid can start the pilot project "household-related services": After Gräfelfing, the Planegg local council has also agreed to take on the deficit.

Planegg

- Starting this summer, older citizens or citizens in need of help from the communities of Planegg and Gräfelfing will have the opportunity to book support: with cleaning and tidying work, laundry and flower care. Everyday support is also offered. This is a low-threshold offer with the aim of being able to live in your own four walls for longer.

“The need for a reduced offer has now reached us,” said Britta Acquistapace, managing director of the Würmtal Senior Citizens’ Aid Association, at the most recent meeting of the Planegg local council. The senior citizen assistance already offers household-related services and everyday support on the basis of a care contract, which costs 125 euros per month for single people and 160 euros for two people. Additional costs apply for the services, depending on the time spent. Now we should also help those who are not interested in the comprehensive care that comes with a care contract. “The point is that people always need someone who is approachable,” says Acquistapace. Addressing the local councilors, she emphasized: “You don’t have to worry that we will provide cleaning jobs.”

Senior assistance is based on a maximum of four hours per household per month. By the end of the pilot phase after three years, 30 households should be served in both communities. For this purpose, the senior citizen assistance would like to employ part-time workers. Because the income, 30 euros per hour of household-related services, does not outweigh the costs, Gräfelfing and Planegg cover the deficit. In the first year, 21,500 euros per municipality are expected. “As a senior representative, I am pleased that the community can and can now take the demographic change into account,” said Cornelia David (FWD). “I hope that we get enough staff.” The first part-time employee is scheduled to start at the beginning of June.
