Munich - An unusually warm and dry month has come to an end: March brought Bavaria a mix of rain, snow and lots of sunshine - and a new temperature record. The German Weather Service (DWD) announced this on Tuesday, April 2nd, in Offenbach. Last month, an average temperature of 7.1 degrees Celsius was measured in Bavaria - 4.2 degrees above the actual reference value for March.
March weather brings temperature records to Bavaria and Munich
The reference value of 2.9 degrees is the average from 1961 to 1990 and is used to document the effects of long-term climate change. According to the meteorologists, the DWD stations in Regensburg and Munich City also set new records for temperature maximums on March 30th: with 24 degrees in the Upper Palatinate and 24.5 degrees in the state capital. It was particularly warm throughout the month in the Alps and in the southern Bavarian Forest.
