After a stormy and uncomfortable start to the week, there seems to be a taste of summer in Bavaria - it could be hot.

Update from April 3rd, 8:40 a.m.:

A look at the DWD warning map shows: All clear for Bavaria. There is currently no longer a weather warning for the Free State. However, the weather will initially remain changeable before the sun continues to shine, according to the DWD.

Accordingly, rain will spread from Franconia to the Free State on Wednesday. Temperatures range from 10 to 15 degrees. The DWD expects moderate and sometimes very gusty southwest winds. While the sun will shine sporadically in the south on Thursday, it will reportedly be rainy in many places towards the afternoon, with isolated thunderstorms in Franconia.

On Friday temperatures will rise to 18 to 25 degrees. In addition to passing cloud fields, meteorologists are predicting more frequent sunshine. Only in the low mountain ranges will it initially be cloudy and locally rainy. Saturday will be really summery and the thermometer will climb to a warm 24 to 29 degrees. According to the DWD, people in Bavaria can look forward to a “start to an exceptionally warm weekend for the beginning of April”.

Weather warnings throughout Bavaria

Update from April 2nd, 5:45 p.m.:

There is still no all-clear from the German Weather Service for large parts of Bavaria. The east of Bavaria in particular must continue to expect gusts of wind with speeds of up to 70 km/h. The weather in the middle of the Free State, on the other hand, has calmed down somewhat: According to the DWD, wind gusts of up to 60 km/h can only occur until 6 p.m.

Update from April 2nd, 9:50 a.m.:

The DWD in Bavaria has been warning of squalls since 9 a.m. “Storm gusts with speeds of up to 70 km/h occur from the west above 600 m. In exposed locations, gusts of wind of around 80 km/h must be expected.” The entire east of Bavaria as well as a strip across the middle of the Free State are affected. The warning applies, for example, to Ansbach, Donau-Ries, Regensburg, Passau, Hof and Kronach.

“Danger from individual falling branches; flying objects. Recommendations for action: secure free-standing objects (e.g. screens and furniture); e.g. attach tents and covers; Watch out for falling objects (e.g. branches) when outdoors,” writes the DWD on dangers and recommendations for action. The weather warning is valid until 8 p.m.

In the rest of Bavaria - including Munich - there is a warning about gusts of wind. But a completely different picture could emerge at the weekend. Because the first summer day of the year is possible in the state capital.

Weather warnings for all of Bavaria on Tuesday too: there is a risk of storms and gusts of wind

Update from April 2nd, 7:05 a.m.:

The DWD once again warns for all of Bavaria without exception. In the east and in a strip across the middle of the Free State (for example in the Roth and Neumarkt districts in the Upper Palatinate) there is an official warning of squalls between 9 a.m. and 10 p.m. on Tuesday. In the rest of Bavaria - including in Munich, on the edge of the Alps and in northern Bavaria - the DWD warns of gusts of wind between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Gusts in Bavaria: It will also be uncomfortable on Tuesday

Update from April 1st, 7:35 p.m.:

The DWD has once again issued weather warnings for all of Bavaria. However, these already refer to tomorrow, Tuesday: Then there will be gusts of wind and storms again almost across the board from morning to evening.

For today's Easter Monday, however, most of the warnings expired in the afternoon hours. In the east of Upper Franconia and Upper Palatinate, however, the official warning of gusts of up to 70 km/h, and in exposed locations even between 80 and 90 km/h, remains in effect until 10 p.m. In the Alps, too, squalls continue to occur above 1,500 meters with speeds of around 80 km/h; in exposed locations there are severe squalls of around 95 km/h. The warning is valid until Monday evening at 8 p.m.

Weather warnings for all of Bavaria on Easter Monday

Update from April 1st, 12:30 p.m.:

As before, not a single district or city in Bavaria is exempt from weather warnings from the DWD. A look at the warning map now shows a dichotomy: A warning of squalls continues to apply in the north and east (colored orange on the warning map). In the south and west, however, the warning map “only” lights up yellow. According to the DWD, a warning about gusts of wind applies in the affected districts - including Munich.

Update from April 1st, 9:30 a.m.:

No district or city in the Free State is now exempt from the DWD's weather warnings. There is an official warning of squalls everywhere.

Update from April 1st, 9 a.m.:

At 9 a.m. sharp, the red alert expired in the south of Bavaria. But it still remains uncomfortable. In the regions where there was previously an official severe weather warning for hurricane-like gusts, there is now a warning about squalls - like in almost the entire rest of Bavaria. Only a few areas are currently exempt from a weather warning: Bad Kissingen, Rhön-Grabfeld and the district and city of Coburg.

“Danger to life and limb”: Red alert again – warnings for almost all of Bavaria

First report from April 1st, 8 a.m.:

Munich - On Good Friday and Easter Saturday there were several warnings from the German Weather Service (DWD), which primarily affected the south of Bavaria. On Easter Monday, however, it will be uncomfortable in almost the entire Free State.

In the south there is again a red alert. There is an official severe weather warning of hurricane-like gusts. It has been in effect since 9 p.m. on Sunday evening and is currently valid until 9 a.m. on Monday.

Hurricane gusts in Bavaria: “Danger to life and limb”

Gusts of up to 130 km/h are possible. The DWD therefore warns and gives recommendations for action: “Danger to life and limb from falling trees, high-voltage lines and scaffolding; falling branches, roof tiles and other larger objects. Recommendations for action: Avoid spending time outdoors or seek shelter (e.g. in buildings); Adapt behavior in road traffic (...) keep a sufficient distance from buildings, trees, scaffolding and high-voltage lines; close all windows and doors.”

DWD warns of squalls in Bavaria: “Danger from falling branches”

But the rest of the Free State is not spared either: the DWD is warning of squalls in most of Bavaria until the afternoon and early evening. All districts and cities are affected from Munich (warning valid until 4 p.m.) via Ingolstadt and Neumarkt in the Upper Palatinate to Nuremberg and Schweinfurt (warning valid until 6 p.m.).

“Danger from individual falling branches; flying objects. Recommendations for action: secure free-standing objects (e.g. screens and furniture); e.g. attach tents and covers; Watch out for falling objects (e.g. branches) when outdoors,” says the DWD. Only the extreme north of the Free State is exempt from warnings.
