Medvedev calls for a radical response to NATO troops. He makes his opinion clear with extreme words. It is aimed directly at the West.
Moscow – In view of possible NATO troops in Ukraine, Putin's friend Dmitri Medvedev has a clear opinion. With the idea of isolated NATO troops in the spirit of “householding and organizing,” “completely brazen villains” would “play the world for a fool.” Medvedev also clearly states the reaction he demands against NATO troops.
“And for every NATO fighter killed, blown up or burned, there must be a maximum reward,” wrote the deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council. “And no return of the bodies. Let the relatives abroad suffer.” Given that Medvedev is usually active on Telegram and the message is written in English, the addressee of the message is clear: the West.
NATO troops as Hitler's SS? Medvedev's extreme comparisons and the reality behind the threats
Medvedev compares NATO troops to Hitler's SS troops and portrays them as "lice from overseas who, unlike the unfortunate Ukrainians, did not have to go to war." Medvedev is known for expressing extreme opinions. Threats of nuclear war or a Russian peace plan intended to ridicule the Ukrainian one are just a few examples.
Such a deterrent tactic against NATO troops is not necessarily necessary at this point in time. NATO has not yet been to Ukraine; only a few national troops are said to have been there. NATO General Jens Stoltenberg denied a NATO mission in the Ukraine war in the near future. As it became clear from a query to the Bundestag's research service, NATO troops in Ukraine could also trigger the alliance.
Medvedev particularly threatens Macron: Extreme reaction after ground troops statement
At times, only French President Emmanuel Macron has been open about Western ground troops in Ukraine, while other Western voices have expressed criticism and concerns about his attitude. “Russia no longer has any red lines for France,” Medvedev said in response to Macron’s position, according to

On Telegram, Medvedev wrote about the many coffins that could be sent to France in the event of French ground troops. “For the roosters of the French leadership, this will be tantamount to the guillotine,” said the security chief. On Telegram, Medvedev goes much further than in the post on X: “It is much more important to kill everyone involved. All. Who paid, who sympathized, who helped. Kill them all.” He also uses the hyperbole to target those who put weapons in Ukraine or simply show solidarity with the Ukrainian side.
