- He wanted to brake, but hit the gas: As a result of this mishap, a 69-year-old driver from the Landshut district landed his car in a 1.5 meter deep construction pit at the Holzkirchen Nord gas station and rest area on the A8 on Friday afternoon. As the Holzkirchen motorway police station reports, the man wanted to park in the area of the electric charging stations around 2 p.m. But when maneuvering he mixed up the brake and accelerator pedals. The vehicle accelerated unintentionally, broke through a construction fence with its front end and then crashed into the pit behind it.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the accident, the police report. However, salvaging the car was difficult as the car had to be lifted out of the hole by crane. The material damage amounts to around 10,000 euros.
