The young association La FabriquenSeine will organize an Art Crafts Walk this Saturday April 6 and Sunday April 7, 2024 in the North-West Au

Aube has an exceptional wealth of heritage. Thanks to its remarkable stained glass windows, its museums, its castles and its artisans, the region attracts many art and history enthusiasts. The European Crafts Days, which will be held this Saturday April 6 and Sunday April 7, 2024, will therefore be celebrated with great fanfare in certain sectors of the department.

Thus,

La

FabriquenSeine

, a young association made up of five craftsmen living and working in the Seine Valley (Aube), will offer an Art Crafts Walk. The objective is to allow the curious to discover the know-how of the region and to highlight artisans. During this weekend, a teddy bear designer will present her work at the Château de la Motte-Tilly while ceramists, textile artists, glass blowers, designers and stained glass artists will exhibit their creations in Romilly-sur-Seine, Villenauxe -la-Grande, Courtavant, Barbuise and Nogent-sur-Seine. But be careful, professionals and the public will have to respect the theme “on your fingertips”!

Through this first edition of the Art Craft Walk, young and old will be able to take part in activities, discover emblematic places in North-West Aubois and visit workshops. “People like to discover these places of research, creation and reflection” notes Natacha Roche Fontaine, the communications manager of

La FabriquenSeine.

This event will also allow the curious to discover the Ecomuseum of Villenauxe-la-Grande, “which is very interesting and rarely open” assures the ceramist. Indeed, the Heritage Area presents the extraction of clay and the methods of manufacturing ceramics which was the main activity of the village for 150 years (from 1850).

Art crafts are in fashion

The Courtavant art craftsman thinks that this event will be a great success because “the public is always curious to see how the creations are made”. Natacha Roche Fontaine believes that consumer society and industry have sometimes impacted the artistic professions. Optimistic, the ceramist notes that the French are once again interested in this sector. “They perhaps have more interest in leisure activities” supposes the one who notes that handmade objects, unique pieces are trendy today because they correspond “to values of authenticity”. Concretely, citizens now seem to favor short circuits for food but also for objects. “For example, they prefer to buy teapots made locally rather than utensils made in China,” laughs the communications manager of

La FabriquenSeine.
