Schlehdorf – This year’s children’s and youth folk music seminar at the Schlehdorf secondary school was a complete success. A total of 82 children and young people aged six to 16 came together to make music. “It’s really cool here. You learn something new and play together and at the end you all play in the big orchestra,” said Vreni Lindmair (11) from Bad Tölz enthusiastically. “The community and playing together is great, it’s a lot of fun. And you also learn something new,” confirmed Benedikt Poschenrieder (13) from Bad Heilbrunn.

Since 2005, the seminar has offered a platform away from traditional individual lessons. The focus here is on making music together. The motivation and joy of making music were literally palpable when the young musicians combined their talents. Under the leadership of the organizers Anita Staltmeier-Gruber and Rainer Gruber - he is the owner of the Bavarian Culture Prize and is currently on tour with Leonhard Schwarz as the duo "Gruber and Schwarz" - from Uffing, a demanding program awaited the participants. “It is remarkable how everyone in the groups here grows together. Most of them don’t know each other, but it’s going great and everyone is motivated,” emphasizes Staltmeier-Gruber, a music teacher at the secondary school in Schlehdorf.

She thanked the secondary school, which generously and easily provided the entire school building, including the gymnasium. Staltmeier-Gruber also praised the teamwork with the helpers Anita Staltmeier Sr., Franziska Kornprobst, Elisabeth Lory and Korbinian Schaur." In addition to making music, the participants were able to make music bags, sheep's heads and kickers with an additional four supervisors.

The seminar, organized by the State Association for Homeland Care, not only teaches musical skills, but also a love of music. Eight experienced speakers - in addition to Anita Staltmeier-Gruber and Rainer Gruber, Hubert Schwingshandl, Judith-Geißler-Herzog, Sophia Schmid, Antonia Kreppert and Hubert Neumüller - accompanied the participants.

The challenge and highlight of the seminar day was a joint orchestral piece that was composed by Rainer Gruber and worked out for the instrumentation. The musicians were released into the evening with great applause from parents and listeners. Gruber expressed his satisfaction: “It was not only a musical journey, but also an inspiring community experience that will further strengthen the young talents in their musical development and self-confidence.”
