A trial involving football professional Marius Wolf from Borussia Dortmund begins on April 11th at the Bielefeld regional court. According to the court's announcement, a 41-year-old from Bad Oeynhausen is facing the 1st criminal chamber for fraud. According to the indictment, the man is said to have induced a wealthy victim to make payments with the prospect of sharing profits on a total of 17 occasions between 2017 and 2019.
Bielefeld - It was clear from the beginning that there would be no profits and that the defendant would not pay back the amounts. The defendant is said to have stolen around 1.4 million euros.
When asked by the German Press Agency, the Bielefeld regional court confirmed that the injured party was Marius Wolf. Wolf currently plays for Borussia Dortmund. At the time of the crime he was also working for Eintracht Frankfurt and Hannover 96.
The Bielefeld regional court initially did not accept the charges. Following a complaint from the Bielefeld public prosecutor's office, the Higher Regional Court in Hamm (OLG) then opened the proceedings. According to an OLG spokesman, because it may not just be about Wolf and the defendant. The 1st Criminal Chamber in Bielefeld should also clarify whether a third party could have benefited from the fraud and not just the accused 41-year-old. dpa
