The grunts of the candidates for the pig cry competition will not resound this year in Sainte-Agathe park in Crépy-en-Valois. Traditionally scheduled for the end of August, the great medieval pig festival of Crépy-en-Valois will not take place in 2024 due to the Paris Olympic Games. Certainly, pig squealing has never been an Olympic discipline but that is not why the Crépy festival was canceled next summer.
“This is a decision that we took in consultation with the town hall of Crépy-en-Valois,” underlines Michel Fessart, president of the Les Cochons de Crépy association, which has organized the festival every year since 1996. Our event was planned between the Olympic Games and the Paralympic Games and we were warned that the police would not be available during these periods. »
