Intesa Sanpaolo will accelerate the reduction of its own emissions. In line with the ESG strategy, the banking group has signed an agreement for the supply of electricity from renewable sources with A2a through A2aEnergia.
The agreement provides for the supply of energy for approximately 10% of the group's annual needs in Italy (equal to approximately 30Gwh) for 10 years, thanks to 2 newly built photovoltaic systems located in Sicily. The plants, which have a production profile that guarantees coverage of the indicated needs, will come into operation during 2024.
According to Alfonso Guido, Chief cost management officer of Intesa Sanpaolo, ''thanks to this agreement, the group provides an active contribution to the transition process of the national production system towards decarbonisation, recording further advantages thanks to the diversification of energy supply sources and the stabilization of the purchase price for a part of its needs".
For A2A the agreement represents an opportunity to make available an important partner such as Intesa Sanpaolomedium-long term solutions to concretely support businesses on the path towards decarbonisation and, thanks to the production of renewable energy, make a concrete contribution to the country's energy transition.
