The Italian people's propensity to save dropped to 6.3% in 2023 from 7.8% in 2022, the lowest level on record since the start of the statistical series in 1995, Istat said on Friday.
The national statistics said that, although gross disposable income rose by 4.7% last year, households' purchasing power decreased by 0.5% due to high inflation.
It said consumer expenditure increased by 6.5%.
Istat said the value added of non-financial corporations rose by6.2% and the profit share was 44.8%, compared to 45.4% in 2022.
