333 migrants arrived in Lampedusa during the night. Six small boats were rescued off the coast of the island, and a seventh arrived independently on Guitgia beach. Yesterday there were 16 landings, for a total of 670 migrants.
On board the 12 meter boat which arrived on the Guitgia beach during the night, there were 58 Bangladeshis, Egyptians and Pakistanis who had left Zuara, Libya and were intercepted on their arrival by the carabinieri. On the 6 vessels that set sail from Sfax, El Amra, Soussa and Mahdia, in Tunisia and blocked by the coast guard and financial police patrol boats, there were between a minimum of 33 and a maximum of 57 people traveling: Gambians, Nigerians, Senegalese, Guineans, Malaysians and Ivorians, including women and minors.
All were transshipped and the boats left adrift in the open sea. The migrants, after an initial health triage at the Favarolo pier, were taken to the hotspot in the Imbriacola district.
