Metro users are asked to anticipate their trips once again. As part of the work on the extension on line 14 to Orly airport (Val-deMarne) and to Saint-Denis Pleyel (Seine-Saint-Denis), the entire purple line of the Paris metro will be closed during one week between Sunday April 7 and Sunday April 14 inclusive. This is the second longest period of interruption due to this work since February, when traffic was cut for two weeks.

It has now been more than two months since the extension of line 14 forced the RATP to close its service every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evening, from 10 p.m., as well as most weekends throughout the day. . For the moment, this recurrence is expected to continue until June 27, with a few exceptions in May. The RATP subsequently promises to “keep its users informed” of the interruptions planned from September.
High traffic possible on line 13
According to RATP, “the automatic train control system must be modernized on the existing line and deployed on the extended line in order to accommodate 1 million passengers per day in 2024”, a project which requires closure for several consecutive days. In February, the new generation automatic piloting system was tested on the existing line as well as its extensions to the north and south.
During these closure periods, RATP anticipates a transfer of users from line 14 to line 13. Which could “experience increased traffic despite an increase in the transport offer”, warns the Transport Authority.
