The Seine has been rising for several days and it's not over yet. This Friday, Parisian motorists will come face to face with road signs telling them to turn around. Due to flood waves coming from the Yonne and the Marne, following the heavy rains on Thursday morning, the Seine saw its level rise sharply, but it remains on yellow alert. Thus the Georges-Pompidou route, which runs along the Parisian river, has been closed to traffic since this Friday morning between Boulogne-Billancourt and into the 16th arrondissement.

This “usual” flood for the season, according to the government website Vigicrues, will continue this weekend. The site informs that “levels will increase further until Saturday” and that a “peak” is expected in the capital that day around 4.3m.
“It’s going to be aquabike”
On the social network » The graph in question, coming from the Vigicrues site, actually shows the rise in the level of the Seine until Saturday, before probably falling again on Sunday morning to around 3.7m.
I think it's clear, it's going to be aquabike and jumping on the path on the Georges Pompidou bank in Paris according to this graph. Albeit with a bit of luck. (Photo from March 4, 2024) #crue #paris pic.twitter.com/Y0iYzVXWWi

This flood episode follows a previous one that occurred last month. The City of Paris then announced the
closure of other accesses to the Seine, in addition to the Georges-Pompidou route, such as the Quai des Orfèvres, the Pointe du Vert Galant, the Quai des Célestins, the Quai Henri IV (port des Célestins), the Quai de Bourbon and the promenade Maurice-Lent. For the moment, however, no announcement has been made by the capital's town hall concerning these various accesses for the day.
