The gourmet guide has chosen the 500 best restaurants in Germany. A star restaurant in Lower Saxony tops the list.
Lower Saxony – This year too, “Feinschmecker” has identified the 500 most outstanding restaurants in Germany. According to the magazine, the critics traveled across the country to evaluate anonymously and impartially. 59 restaurants were added to the guide, 47 received a higher rating and 13 were downgraded. At the top is a restaurant in Lower Saxony that has already impressed the critics of the Michelin Guide.

However, the “Feinschmecker” rating of the individual restaurants is not based on stars, but rather based on the F principle. The Elite receives the maximum rating of 5F and is at the top of the gourmet addresses in Germany. This means that these restaurants are “Perfect in Every Way” for the judges. This is the rating of the foodie guide.

5F distinguishes exceptional haute cuisine, excellent service and first-class wines. Behind it are renowned top chefs who will once again delight with their creations this year. This also applies to the 12 restaurants that were awarded the highest rating by the gourmet guide.
According to the critics: The best restaurant in Germany is the Aqua in Lower Saxony
First up is the Aqua in Wolfsburg - no wonder that, according to other critics, it is also one of the best restaurants in Lower Saxony in 2023. The team around chef Sven Elverfeld offers innovative and sophisticated haute cuisine with an unmistakable signature, according to the gourmets' assessment. “What sometimes sounds simple is, at Sven Elverfeld, always a dish of creative sophistication made from regional and international products of the very best quality,” is the verdict. The highlights in two menus included the caramelized Kalamata olives, pulpo, pimentos and charcoal mayonnaise as well as the “Purple Curry” venison saddle with blackcurrant mustard.

According to critics, the exclusive gourmet restaurant in the Hotel Ritz-Carlton in the Autostadt is a place of international caliber with virtuoso, modern top cuisine. The jury's verdict is: “Contemporary delight, the guest is the focus. The absolute feel-good experience!”
