/ 6As part of its thunderstorm warnings for Bavaria, the DWD pointed out that tornadoes cannot be completely ruled out. The case actually happened: On Thursday evening, April 4th, a storm of wind sucked up the clouds over Schirmitz in the Neustadt an der Waldnaab district like a vacuum cleaner. 2 / 6The result of this is a path of 60 - 100 meters where the damage can be seen. Probably the most violent fall: a carport flew 200 to 300 meters through the area. In total, the Schirmitz fire department had to manage 14 missions as a result of the tornado. © vifogra / Haubner

/ 6 A windstorm also left chaos in the Wackersberg and Holnstein districts of Berching in the evening. “Both residential buildings and agricultural outbuildings were damaged by the wind, roofs were covered and parts of the roof were in danger of falling. As things stand, we have around 30 damaged buildings. Of these, around ten are residential buildings and 20 are outbuildings or agricultural buildings,” reports Daniel Gottschalk, press spokesman for the fire brigades in the Neumarkt district in the Upper Palatinate, to Vifogra.de. © vifogra / Eberlein

/ 6Shortly before 7 p.m. the fire department was alerted. But before the emergency services could get to the scene of the damage, they first had to remove trees. The natural spectacle was a shock for the residents: “I had an Eternit roof on top and it was thrown a few hundred meters. It went to my son, who is five houses away, and fell into the wall, into the facade. No, I've never experienced anything like that. I built a bathtub out because I was remodeling the bathroom, it was thrown down a few hundred meters down to the football field,” reports Michael Köbl, whose barn completely collapsed, to Vifogra.de. © vifogra / Eberlein

/ 6The fire department was on site with around 190 emergency services from eleven fire departments - together with the BRK district association Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz and the THW from Parsberg. Together with residents and local tradesmen who volunteered to help, the securing and clean-up began. It was also important to close the broken roofs and remove loose tiles. © vifogra / Eberlein

/ 6Despite the damage, there was good news: According to Vifogra, there were no injuries. © vifogra / Eberlein
