They met in Rimini in 2020 after the first lockdown and have never left each other since then, not even after the outbreak of war between their two countries of origin: Russia and Ukraine. Eduard Povkh, a Ukrainian entrepreneur, and Tatiana Vaktherova, a Russian teacher, got married a few days ago in the town hall of Montescudo-Montecolombo, crowning their love with a party for both families and a message of hope.

"I have been here for 11 years, my husband for more than 20 - Tatiana tells the local edition of Resto del Carlino - We met for the first time in 2020 in Rimini (where Eduard lived) at the birthday party of a mutual friend of ours ". When the war broke out in Ukraine "it was a real shock for both of us. We would never have imagined a conflict between our countries. Russians and Ukrainians have always been brothers. Eduard has many family members still in Ukraine, in areas where there is fighting. It's very worried. But we didn't allow, not even for an instant, the war to influence our relationship. So much so that we decided to live together in Montescudo, where I have my home, and to get married." After the ceremony in the town hall, there was a small party: "There were friends from here and also some relatives who had arrived from Ukraine and Russia. It was exciting to come together, all together, as if there wasn't war dividing us."
