Around 400 students from the Jacques Brel college in Vesoul were evacuated Friday morning after the discovery of a shell brought by one of them, the academy inspectorate said.
The shell was neutralized by the Colmar deminers shortly before noon and the students, who had been brought to safety in the school, were able to return to their classes, said the Haute-Saône academy inspector, Philippe Destable.
The shell had been brought to the establishment by a 3rd grade student,
“it’s an object that was kept by his family
,” declared Philippe Destable.
“We don’t know what went through his mind, it’s a big mistake
,” he added, specifying that a disciplinary procedure would be initiated and that awareness raising among students would be carried out to remind them that it is forbidden to come to school with this type of object.
