Johanna Ücker had to create natural-looking freckles at the European Make-up Championship. Even without placement, she draws a positive conclusion.

- She had wanted a creative motto - and that was actually there: At the European Make-up Championship, Johanna Ücker and her eleven competitors were supposed to give the models natural-looking freckles - "freckles love" was the motto. “It was modern, which I really liked, but also very sophisticated,” says the Wielenbach native. “I'm very happy with my result and I think that's the most important thing.” However, the 24-year-old didn't make it to the winner's podium.

Wielenbacherin competes in the “New Talent” category

The “European Make-up Award” was organized as part of the “Beauty Düsseldorf” trade fair. Ücker competed in the “New Talent” category, in which those participants who have less than two years of professional experience were evaluated. The experts also included twelve make-up artists. The 24 finalists had previously been selected from 78 applications.

They were only assigned their models in Düsseldorf, and the topic was also top secret until the start of the European Championships. A new experience for Ücker, who has already achieved top places at the national level. The make-up took place on a large stage so that trade fair visitors could see what the participants were doing. “That was of course very exciting,” says Ücker. “Lots of people, cameras, photo sessions, etc. The day was very tiring but a great experience. My family gave me great support.”

Only the first three placements were ultimately announced. In the “New Talent” ranking, Anastasia Aristov from Augsburg won, Natalja Tibelius from Oerlinghausen came second. Luca De Michelle from Differdange (Luxembourg) was happy with third place.
