Fürstenfeldbruck - In April 2022, the district council decided to demolish the old agricultural school, thereby creating the opportunity for an extension to the Pestalozzi School.
Until then, the Pestalozzi School used the ground floor of the Old Agricultural School. Since it will still be a few years before the groundbreaking for an extension building takes place, an interim building was decided on, which will cover the current minimum requirements from the lost area. This is now in full swing.
Only solution
The old agricultural school was demolished about a year ago. Due to water damage and the structural integrity of the building, which was no longer secure, the part of the building used by the Pestalozzi School had to be closed on January 1, 1022. As a result, the Pestalozzi School lost a quarter of its available space. It was no longer possible to maintain full-time operations, maintain student exercise companies, or provide support through occupational therapy and speech therapy. Since the shortfall in demand had to be covered quickly, interim construction was the only solution.
Construction made of wooden elements
An architectural firm (Dinkel Architects) was commissioned to plan the interim building, which is designed as a wooden element structure. The construction costs are similar to those of conventional construction, but the advantages lie in the significantly shorter construction time. A general contractor is responsible for the execution, who prefabricated the wooden elements in the factory and assembled them on site. The subsequent interior work is carried out conventionally. It has a pre-grayed wooden facade. A PV system will be installed on the roof. The electricity generated will be used for your own needs.
Space for offers and working groups
The approximately 800 m² wooden element building will accommodate the cafeteria, leisure rooms and the “Flotte Klamotte” working group for the next ten years. In the student training company “Flotte Klamotte”, students learn to restore, decorate, wash and iron used or defective clothing. The finished goods are then displayed in the sales room and can be tried on and purchased by the school family. In addition to technical skills, dealing with customers and sales skills are also taught. In addition, rooms will be created here for youth social work advice centers and career entry assistance, as well as therapy rooms for speech therapy, for example.
The construction should be finished in the fall
The prefabricated wooden elements, approximately three by five meters in size, have been installed since the end of March. In order to create the basis for the assembly of the wooden structure, the supply lines were laid in February and the floor slab was concreted in March. The school is scheduled to complete and put the interim building into operation in September 2024. The costs for the new building amount to around 4.8 million euros. Since the expected service life is significantly less than 25 years, the government of Upper Bavaria is subsidizing the measure at half the funding rate, which in this case corresponds to around 900,000 euros.
