The police are pursuing a hot lead in fish poaching in the Isar. Thanks to the nature conservation watchdog.
Wallgau
- There is a hot lead in the case of fish poaching in the Isar: A week after a fisheries supervisor discovered a suspicious net in a side arm between Wallgau and Vorderriß on Good Friday, new information is leaking out.
Accordingly, the police have identified the personal details of a man - reportedly from the southern Upper Bavarian area - who was found in the area in question in the Isar bed at the time in question. “The suspicion is that it was this person,” confirms a spokesman for the Garmisch-Partenkirchen police station investigating the incident.
The stone was apparently started rolling by a volunteer from the nature conservation watchdog. He is said to have discovered a man on Good Friday while touring along the Isar at river kilometer 244.6 - about two and a half kilometers downstream from the Wallgauer Isarsteg, 200 meters from the district border. According to information, the suspect had set up camp there to spend a few days in the wild. According to reports, the person in question showed little understanding when it was pointed out that camping was not allowed there. There is talk of an unpleasant conversation.
At some point the man seemed to be understanding and finally left the field. However, the attentive representative of the nature conservation watchdog remained on site after the expulsion until the suspect had dismantled his camp. In the immediate vicinity was a net attached to a branch and weighted with stones, which was obviously designed for illegal fishing. This was not removed because that would have been tantamount to an admission of guilt. Nevertheless, the volunteer wrote down the license plate number of the suspect's car, which had been parked on the side of the toll road.
The personal details are available to the police. A report was also filed. Fish poaching is not a trivial offense, but a criminal offense. In the worst case, the person could even face a two-year prison sentence, but usually a hefty fine.
