In “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire”, presenter Günther Jauch has to prove his knowledge himself for a change. The Easter additional joker makes it possible.

Cologne – RTL is also showing two extra-long “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” special episodes at Easter this year. On Sunday (March 31, 2024), educator Gabriela Steudle, among others, was allowed to take a seat on the famous quiz chair. The special thing about the Easter success: Every candidate gets an additional joker. Gabriela Steudle draws the Günther Jauch joker – and so the “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” presenter himself becomes a candidate for the 16,000 euro question.

Additional joker: Günther Jauch himself becomes a candidate in the “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” Easter special

“Opportunity or handicap? “That turns out over the course of the show,” jokes Günther Jauch as he shows the audience which special joker Gabriela Steudle pulls out of the RTL Easter bunny’s nest: the Günther Jauch joker. So for a change, the “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” moderator has to take it himself and answer a question for Gabriela Steudle. The teacher only knows which joker she has drawn when it is used - but she can decide for herself and chooses the 16,000 euro question.

After eight questions and two used jokers, the time had finally come. The 16,000 euro question is: “Probably the most famous motif on the East Side Gallery in Berlin is an intimate kiss between Brezhnev and... A: Adeneur B: Reagan C: Honecker D: Mitterrand”. But Gabriela Steudle doesn't really need one when it comes to this question. “I think it’s Honecker,” said the teacher confidently.

“Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” not only a hit in Germany – TV show with numerous spin-offs

“Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” has not only been a real ratings hit in this country for years, the TV show, which originally came from Great Britain (there: “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?”), has also developed into a real mass phenomenon internationally. The quiz show has been licensed in over 100 countries worldwide, including Albania, Austria, Belgium, Turkey, the Netherlands, Italy, Vietnam, Poland, Portugal and Switzerland. The program sequence, the optics and the music are often almost identical.

Little help: “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” candidate knows the answer even without Günther Jauch

Günther Jauch agrees with a simple “yes” and an exuberant nod. “I walk past there often enough. The picture also hangs in the BR airport. That's quite famous. There’s something French kiss-like about what the two gentlemen are doing.” The two confidently log in C and Günther Jauch's guest appearance as a “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” candidate ends after just a few seconds. Honecker is of course correct and Gabriela Steudle can look forward to 16,000 euros. But it's not over yet. The educator confidently answers questions 10 and 11, then gets out and takes home a total of 64,000 euros.

Speaking of Günther Jauch: The “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” director had some fun – and without the knowledge of showmaster Günther Jauch. He was quickly named “Sexiest Man Alive” – or not.
