The Erding Agricultural School said goodbye to 40 new managers and housekeepers on Friday.

Erding – There was a full house in the large meeting room of the district office at the graduation ceremony of the Erding Agricultural School. For the first time after a two-year break, in addition to the farmers, nutrition and household management specialists were also able to receive their certificates.

Agriculture needs young and well-trained talent, said school principal Katharina Binsteiner and was pleased about the 20 graduates, including four women. Eight of them come from the Erding district. The school also covers the Landshut to Mühldorf area, says Binsteiner. With an average of around 80 hectares, they would manage larger than average farms: “For us, the focus is on future businesses.”

When it came to grades, the women were at the top: Anna-Maria Stürzer from Höhenkirchen achieved an average of 1.12, second best was Sophia Breitenwinkler from Allmannsberg (1.43) ahead of Thomas Müller from Pürstling am Parstling (municipality of St. Wolfgang/1.62 ). All graduates can now start out as agricultural managers and entrepreneurs or continue their training, says Binsteiner. In addition to the master's examination, it is also possible to graduate as a state-certified agricultural business economist.

In around 630 hours, the 20 housekeeping staff learned in-depth knowledge in various areas. With Lukas Schachler from Wörth, there was a man in this year for the very first time; he, too, passed the test like everyone else without any difficulty. Given an overall grade average of 1.39, deputy headmistress Helga Bauschmid was able to report a sensational result.

Andrea Depner from Neufahrn near Freising and Theresa Schick from Neuhausen (Erding) achieved the best result with 1.10 each, followed by Isabella Graf from Hofstarring and Maria Litzlbeck from Dorfen, who both achieved a 1.11.

The graduates have mastered subjects such as nutrition, family and household management and were taught according to a new concept for the first time. This is more practical and focuses more on the environment and sustainability, says Bauschmid.

District Administrator Martin Bayerstorfer looked back on the beginnings of the agricultural school in the 1980s. At that time, he received his certificate there himself and said with a laugh to the group: “You can see that this enables you to become a district administrator later on.” The district fought for the school location for a long time, and given the large number of graduates, it was It was the right decision, says Bayerstorfer: “69 percent of the area in the district is used for agriculture. This is the highest rate in all of Bavaria.”

BBV district chairman Jakob Maier explained that education is practically everything: “And for many of you, today's graduation is just an intermediate step.” He also emphasized that young people should continue to be committed to their profession, including at demonstrations if necessary. At the same time, he praised democracy in Germany: “Here you can demonstrate without fear of punishment. Unfortunately, this is not the case in many other countries.”
