The Voldöpper Spitze in Kramsach is more than just a mountain. It offers a double summit experience and has a few surprises in store for hikers. This route is ideal for a spring excursion as the path runs along the sunny south side of the mountain.
As soon as you enter Kramsach, you are surrounded by an atmosphere of happiness. Whether in the gardens, on the banks of Lake Reintal or in the mountains, you will always be greeted with a warm “Griaß oak” from locals of all ages. Kramsach is even home to a “funny cemetery”. This is actually a cemetery without deceased people, consisting of collected inscriptions and sayings on grave crosses, such as: “Here Johanna Vogelsang is silent, she twittered all her life.”

The Voldöpper Peak
It is therefore not surprising that Kramsach's local mountain - a wonderful viewpoint - is called “Voldöpper Spitze”. The name invites puns, but it is connected to the oldest district of Kramsach, Voldöpp. It points to a pre-Roman origin. Due to its southern location, the mountain of the same name can be climbed early in the year and is therefore ideal for a trip in spring. It also offers a double summit experience with its south and north peaks. Geographically, it is a cornerstone of the Brandenberg Alps.

The challenges of the hike
In midsummer you appreciate the beautiful canopy of leaves, which always cools you down after sunny clearings - with sweet raspberries. The climb is quiet but quick on a well-signposted mountain path. But the mountain has its pitfalls. He plays a trick on the hiker, especially on the last stage. Behind each of the many small climbs on the undulating ridge you suspect the summit. But only the next climb follows. At the end it gets really tiring when you climb up the steep meadow ridge.
As soon as you have overcome this, the narrow southern summit with a summit cross presents itself boldly. Opposite, the Kitzbühel, Tux, Zillertal and Stubai Alps rise high above the Inn Valley. With a bit of luck you can spot some chamois in the steep meadows below the summit. Deep down lies the Reintalersee. The natural swimming lake is the largest of the Kramsacher lakes and is one of the warmest of its kind in Tyrol. The Buchsee, on the other hand, impresses with its unique population of water lilies, the Krummsee with its special curvature, the Frauensee with its beautiful reeds and marsh and the Berglsteiner See with its idyllic location. The hike guarantees a great panoramic view.

If you want, you can also climb the north summit, which can be reached in just a few minutes. It is spacious and has a bench that makes it more comfortable. The panorama to the north and west also opens up here. The vertical rock faces of the Rofan are particularly striking. But you can also see the peaks of the Mangfall Mountains in Bavaria. Whether you descend again after a rest via the steep ascent route or via the longer but flatter “Bear Pit” variant remains a question of personal preference.
