A sigh of relief for the EC Peiting fans: More than four years after the official local council decision, the crane is finally standing at the Peiting ice stadium, ushering in the long-planned and repeatedly postponed renovation.
Peiting
- The large crane rises next to Peiting's ice stadium. Last week, the device was set up that makes it visible to the entire town: The long-planned renovation of the Peitinger ice stadium is finally starting, which has kept the local council busy for years (we reported).
By the way: Everything from the region is also available in our regular Schongau newsletter. And in our Weilheim-Penzberg newsletter.
The scaffolding work began this week, according to building authority manager Christian Hack. Then the actual work begins. The stadium roof begins with the entire renovation.
Completely new roof system
First, the photovoltaic system that is already on the roof is dismantled. Then it's time to tackle the roof covering and the roofing felt. “Everything comes down to the supporting framework,” says Hack, explaining the next steps in the roof renovation. The so-called roof lantern, the elevation in the middle of the roof, is also removed. Once everything is dismantled, the ice stadium will receive a long-overdue, completely new roof system.
As is well known, renovation is anything but luxury: During the course of the work, deficiencies in fire protection must be corrected. It was only possible to ensure the stadium's continued operation for the most recent season with a special permit.

The work on the roof should be completed in four months, said Hack. In other words: everything should be over with the start of the new ice hockey season at the beginning of August. “Then the PV system will also be put back on the roof.” Then at least the stadium roof will be up to date again.

Four years of history
It has been more than four years since the Peitingen local council gave the green light for the general renovation of the ice rink. The project had repeatedly been pushed back. In the end it was clear: the costs had exploded in the meantime. Then there was no company that wanted to submit an offer for the carpentry work for the first planned measure, the replacement of the roof. For a short time, given the tight budget, it was entirely unclear whether the project should be tackled at all.
All news and stories can also be found on the Schongauer Nachrichten Facebook page.
EC Peiting and its fans then breathed a sigh of relief when the Peiting local council approved a significantly scaled-down general renovation of the aging ice stadium at the end of July last year. And now you can breathe a sigh of relief that the safety-relevant renovation with the roof replacement has finally started.
