Sometimes mothers should just be merciful - and not encourage their children to immediately throw away items they find. It could be worth owning.

Sussex – When I was a child, almost every activity was a little adventure. Be it a visit to the supermarket, the way home after school or trips with parents. It was not uncommon for there to be plenty to discover. As soon as the child's curiosity is aroused, the handle goes to the ground and an object that is fascinating from the child's point of view goes home with it.

This was also the case with twelve-year-old Rowan Brannan, who discovered a Roman bracelet while walking with the family dog. A find that would prove to be extremely spectacular - albeit much later. Things went faster for the family, who discovered treasures in their garden.

Small find, big sensation: boy from England discovers antique bracelet

As the British

Sussex World

reports, little Rowan from Bognor Regis, an English seaside resort in West Sussex, found the bracelet in the mud. Not unusual for him, because: “I keep so many things that I probably shouldn’t touch,” said the twelve-year-old in an interview with the medium.

The Brit's discovery had already taken place two years ago before it could be determined what exactly his find actually was. Immediately after his walk and find, Rowan had researched on the Internet to see whether he had possibly discovered gold. Everything would have pointed to this - and yet it dragged on.

“It's always very exciting”: Little Rowan's ancient find will be examined for two years

First of all, neither little Rowan nor his mother would have guessed how big the boy's find actually was. That was about to slowly change when a hairdresser visited the two, took a photo of the discovery and then showed it to a metal detectorist. He would have been enthusiastic and directly recommended informing a lost property officer.

Said and done. It turned out that Rowan had discovered a piece of a Roman armilla. This refers to a bracelet with which Roman soldiers were awarded as a sign of respect and bravery. What happened next? The bracelet was sent to the British Museum and the Coroner's Court for further analysis.

“It's always very exciting when we read an email,” said mom Amanda in this context. "The Coroner's Court wrote to us and said: 'It was so lovely working with Rowan's darling'". Something similar was heard in the case of little Riley, an Australian boy who made a spectacular discovery in his front yard.

Basically, carrying out the various processes and investigations would take a lot of time. Until the final determination or clarification of all outstanding formalities, the antique bracelet is the property of the Crown. But then it goes back to its owner - and thus to the little Rowan with the treasure hunter genes.

Mom Amanda Brannan told

Sussex World

that her son had always brought home lots of things. “I always say to him 'put that down, it's dirty'. In this case he ignored me. He was convinced that it was actually gold,” says the Englishwoman when she talks about her child’s optimism.

Two years after Rowan was found, it is clear: the little boy made a sensational discovery - and luckily he didn't listen to his mother. A mother and son duo also made a spectacular discovery on the Baltic Sea.
