In Bavaria, numerous bathing lakes offer relaxation for holidaymakers. One of the warmest lakes in Bavaria is not only notable for its temperature.
Munich - Bavaria is a popular holiday destination for a reason. It's not just the numerous castles that attract crowds of visitors, there are also many lakes where you can relax. This is also the case at Abtsdorfer See (Berchtesgadener Land district) in Upper Bavaria.
Abtsdorfer See is one of the warmest in Bavaria
The Abtsdorfer See, simply called Abtsee by locals, is a popular swimming lake in summer. “It is one of the warmest lakes in Upper Bavaria, many even think that Abtsdorfer See is the warmest lake in Bavaria,” says the website
berchtesgaden.de
. After all, it reaches temperatures of 17 degrees in May, and in summer the water can reach temperatures of up to 26 degrees. But the title is contested by the Upper Bavarian waters of Lake Friedenhain in the Straubing-Bogen district. Because it should even get up to 28 degrees warm.

Abstdorfer Lake with a record: “The richest swimming lake in all of Bavaria with fish”
But the Abtsdorfer See still seems to be able to claim a record. Because it is “certainly the bathing lake with the most fish in all of Bavaria,” according to
berchtesgaden.de
. “The bog carp, which are up to 50 centimeters long, are a local specialty.”
Another plus point for holidaymakers: the lake is less than 30 kilometers away from the Mozart city of Salzburg. A trip to neighboring Austria is also possible.
