ChatGpt developer OpenAI is expanding access to its Custom Model program, which aims to help users and businesses develop custom generative AI models. Different from the Gpt Store, where it is possible to buy and sell chatbots specialized on some but still basic topics, Custom Model involves the creation of professional-level AI.
One case, cited by OpenAI itself, is the collaboration with SK Telecom, a Korean telecommunications giant, to use the Gpt 4 model in response to critical issues and other problems in the connection sector in Korea. Another customer, Harvey, worked with OpenAI to create a custom model for case law, which integrates hundreds of millions of words of text and lawyer notes. The Custom Model initiative was launched last year at the OpenAI developer conference, to train and optimize models in specific fields. Since then, according to a company note, "dozens" of customers have asked for access to customizing the models. “In some cases, organizations must train a model from scratch that understands their business, industry, or domain,” OpenAI writes. “Custom models introduce new knowledge, using innovative training techniques.
If companies have large amounts of proprietary data (millions or billions of files), then it is worth training AI that responds to complex and unique behaviors.”
