In the Venezia parlor you pay 1.40 euros per scoop this year - still relatively cheap compared to the industry. Although everything has become more expensive, many café operators have not or only barely increased the price for a scoop of ice cream this year. We asked around.

District - With temperatures well over 20 degrees and plenty of sun, the current weather almost seems like a touch of summer. And there is hardly anything nicer than cooling off with a delicious ice cream.

You really can't complain about a lack of selection in the region's ice cream parlors and cafés this year. Franco Colle from the Peißenberg ice cream parlor Venezia offers a total of 50 different flavors. “I bring something new with me every year,” says Colle – this year, for example, the variety “Greek yogurt with elderberry”.

A total of 24 different flavors of ice cream await visitors to the Carlesi ice cream parlor on Weilheim's Marienplatz in the summer months. There are also new creations here on a regular basis. Owner Carlo da Silva mostly gets his inspiration for this from the motherland of ice cream: Italy.

Real Italian ice cream is also available in the Pinocchio ice cream parlor on Peitinger Hauptplatz, which Renato Muttini and his team have been running since 2023. Among the 20 varieties available in the ice cream counter, Giotto, Raffaello and yoghurt-passion fruit are particularly popular, says Muttini. And the “peiting ice cream” made from yoghurt and cassis is also often ordered, says the Italian happily.

But how much does a scoop of ice cream actually cost this year? This is a question that concerns people every year - and of course especially in economically difficult times like the current one.

In the Venezia ice cream parlor you pay 1.40 euros per scoop this year. This is still relatively cheap compared to the industry. “I’m an old-school ice cream confectioner. I produce the ice cream alone and can therefore maintain this price,” explains Franco Colle. So he saves the personnel costs for this - and because he owns the building in which his ice cream parlor is located, potential rental costs are also eliminated.

By the way: Everything from the region is also available in our regular Schongau newsletter. And in our Weilheim-Penzberg newsletter.

1.60 euros per ball: “Actually that’s not enough”

In the Peitinger ice cream parlor a scoop costs 1.60 euros this year - ten cents more than last summer. “Everything has become more expensive,” says Muttini, justifying the price increase. At the ice cream parlor in Weilheim Carlesi, a scoop of ice cream also costs 1.60 euros this year, which is exactly the same as last year. Although Carlo da Silva has concerns: “Actually, that’s not enough.” Because the ingredients are constantly becoming more expensive – “plus electricity, plus working time”. Nevertheless, Carlesi tries to keep the price down so as not to lose guests. And of course, looking at the competition is also part of pricing, explains da Silva.

This competition includes the GelatOK ice cream parlor on Rathausplatz in the district town. Here too, the price has not changed compared to 2023 - and is still 1.80 euros per ball.
