The end for the Krieger Bräu brewery is sealed. The company will cease operations by the end of April. But there are already solutions for how to proceed.
Landau an der Isar – The traditional country brewery Krieger Bräu has to close. According to media reports, the reason for the closure was the current economic development, wrote the managing directors Michael and Helene Sturm in an email. Despite the hope for a future through a new building, the project is not economically feasible due to the cost situation. Brewing operations will be stopped until April 30th. The

After 400 years: Popular German brewery ceases operations
A solution has already been found for employees and customers. Nevertheless: “It was a shock for the employees,” Sturm admitted to
PNP
. According to a statement, the Graf Arco brewery will take over the employment relationships after the brewery closes and will deliver beer under the same conditions. The Krieger brand will also be continued there and Krieger Hell will be brewed and sold in Adldorf according to the usual recipe.
“We are humbled and grateful at the same time that the Krieger brewery approached us as a fellow brewery and placed their trust in us. “We want to warmly welcome all employees of the Krieger Brewery from May 1, 2024, will be a new home for them and will give them perspective,” writes the Adldorfer Brewery.
Krieger Brewery has to close: Graf Arco takes over
According to PNP
, the director of Graf Arco, Georg Reichert,
recently confirmed that all contracts of the Sturm family will be taken over “one-for-one”. For the restaurants, for example, this means that although Sturm remains the lessor, the agreements with the brewery are seamlessly transferred to Graf Arco.
It wasn't just the Krieger brewery that announced it would be ceasing operations. The Cologne brewery Hellers also had to close in the middle of the year due to a lack of economic prospects. Anna Heller explained the closure of the brewery at the time as follows: “The ever-increasing costs on all sides and the brewery's high investment backlog leave us no choice. Unfortunately, it is no longer possible for us to work economically.” Shortly after the announcement, Hellers launched a special campaign.
Hellers already posted on Facebook on March 14th: “Since we announced that our brewery would be closing, we have received more and more questions about our discarded wooden beer crates. So now the info: For three euros per box you can bring home your memories of our small family brewery in the Latäng Kwartier." (bohy)
