Half a year since the war of iron swords broke out, which is known as the greatest disaster known to the country, and the Jewish community as a whole since the Holocaust. Former Member of Knesset Haim Yelin, a resident of Bari who also served as chairman of the Eshkol Regional Council in the past, reveals for the first time chilling correspondence from the terrible day, with his kibbutz neighbors.
Yelin says that "one of the first messages was around nine in the morning. I texted my neighbors if they were okay and made sure to correspond with them every few minutes to see that everything was under control. At one point they went up to the attic, they didn't intend to be captured by Hamas, they were with the children, they wrote to me that they were "cooking from the heat in the attic".
Looking at the messages from that Saturday, Yelin returned to the moments of horror. "This is the first time I show these messages, it's chilling to read them. We begin to understand that there are a lot of messages, that there are families whose houses are burning and no one comes to save them - then silence, they stop answering. In those moments I realize that if I start counting the Barry and the people, half no longer exist. That was the feeling, and finally I had the exact number."

Yelin also added and said that "I think I realized around half past ten that something big was happening here. I wrote to one of the neighbors, 'Barry will not be Barry again.'
Yelin further elaborated on the heroism of the kibbutz members. "Our neighborhood was saved by heroes who came from the Nova party. One of them, a member of the kibbutz, managed to eliminate eight terrorists by himself. We don't know why one neighborhood was saved and one neighborhood was not, why one house was saved and one house was not, we mustn't think about it, we have to look For the future. We who got out of it alive - say thank you and move on."

Last week, Yelin was interviewed for "His Weekend" at the Walla! studio and commented on the possibility of early elections. "First of all, responsibility must be taken. I don't blame, those who will blame are the commission of inquiry, the judges and the court. He who cannot take responsibility cannot be a leader. Elections can lead to social rehabilitation and a sense of security, even if there is Hamas."
