Germering – The Manfred Funke-Hopfner Foundation has been supporting non-profit institutions and social projects for 15 years, primarily in Germering, in the Fürstenfeldbruck district and in and around Munich.

Funke was a qualified engineer and lived in Germering-Harthaus for many years. He ran his company in Munich, which specialized in heating technology, for over 50 years. He was later adopted by Karl Hopfner. This is how the name Funke-Hopfner came about. During his active years, he hardly had time for vacation or hobbies. When he retired, the company was sold and he was able to indulge in his hobbies, golf and long-distance travel. But that time suddenly ended. Funke-Hopfner suffered from cancer and died on October 5, 2008 at the age of 72. He had no survivors, but he wanted to leave something behind. When he became aware of the seriousness of the situation, he commissioned his friends Toni Sedlmayr and Kurt Brummer to set up a foundation after his death. This happened in 2009.

Funding benefits many institutions

The purpose of the foundation is to promote public health, youth and elderly care and the welfare system as well as to promote charitable causes. The purpose of the foundation is to be achieved in particular by supporting sick people and people with cancer, promoting hospice facilities as long as they are public corporations, and supporting social organizations and institutions that provide help to people in need, in particular social services. The foundation is led by the honorary board members Arnd Walther and Anton Sedlmayr. The three-member honorary board of trustees (Anita Schindler, Sonja Thiele and Marianne Walther) decides on the use of the income generated and to be distributed as part of the regular board of trustees meetings. Over the past 15 years, numerous organizations have been able to look forward to receiving funding. For example, the social service, the association for the coordination of social tasks or the hospice association in Germering.
