Paris: three people die in a fire on rue de Charonne

“We heard a faint explosion then the police asked us to come down

,” explains an old lady sitting on a chair in rue de Charonne. This Sunday evening around 8 p.m., an explosion took place at number 146 of this street in the 11th arrondissement of Paris, on the seventh floor of an apartment building which has eight floors. A fire then broke out in one apartment before spreading to two others. At 8:30 p.m., police and the Paris fire brigade (BSPP) arrived on site. Seventeen engines were used to bring the fire under control.
