Although his works have long been widely appreciated, as demonstrated by reviews in national newspapers and awards such as the Bergamo Prize, Adrián Bravi cannot hide the genuine surprise of finding himself among the twelve finalists of the 2024 Strega Prize, with his book Adelaida (Nutriments). "I never expected to get this far. In addition to mine, there are many beautiful, important works. Being included in this list is already enough, but, of course, if you are among the twelve you can only hope to remain in the top five" he says, according to a note from the press office of the University of Macerata. Argentinian by birth, Recanati by adoption, he was selected among the 82 candidates on the recommendation of Romana Petri, last year's finalist.
Graduated in philosophy at the University of Macerata, today he works at the University as a librarian.
"He is always a friendly and discreet colleague - comments the rector of UNIMC John Mc Court -. Many of us meet him every day in the corridors, in the rooms, work alongside him. Bravi dedicates almost all of his free time to this passion. "It's all to the detriment of my private life - he says -.
In addition to work, this is my life. There is very little space for other things, sometimes even to the detriment of sleep". Added to his projects are many requests for collaborations for book prefaces, for example, or anthologies. "At first it's very nice, because it means being appreciated, but then I realize that I have to cut back to be able to continue my works." Now an intense spring is opening for Bravi. "There will be the whole Strega tour. They've already invited me to the Italian Institute in Stockholm. It's a bit demanding, but it's fine."
