For the first time, the city of Schongau is taking part in the “Climate Spring in the Oberland” – with an extensive program. At least 16 of 160 events in four districts were held here. The initiators presented their contributions between April 18th and May 5th.

Schongau – There are interesting dates to note in the “Climate Spring in the Oberland” event series. For the first time this year, thanks to the initiative of Schongau's climate manager Julia Kurnoth, the city of Schongau is also on board. And the climate protection expert also easily took an offer in the market town of Peiting under her wing.

“The Weilheim-Schongau district is the strongest, I find the offering in Schongau extremely impressive,” said Kurnoth happily at a press event in the town hall, where the individual organizers presented their contributions. “It is important to make people aware of climate change,” emphasized Mayor Falk Sluyterman.

Escape Room “The Last Chance”, April 27th and 28th, Juze

“The Last Chance” is the name of the escape room that will be set up over two days in the Schongauer Juze – in collaboration with the Forum Klimawende AmmerLechLand in the Pfaffenwinkel environmental initiative. “This is very happy for us, as we can also pick up the young people,” says Juze leader Basti Kosler. The topic of climate protection has recently fallen somewhat; before Corona, Fridays for Future was very present in the house.

“Eagle Wings”, changes in the glaciers, DAV Schongau, April 28th

The DAV Schongau shows changes in the glaciers via aerial photographs, from the perspective of a trained eagle. Spectators can accompany the bird through five countries in the Alps. “As an association, we are also asking ourselves what we have to do to achieve CO2 neutrality by 2030,” says Robert Zimmermann. The aim of the evening was to “at least reap the consternation”.
