In Seesen, a police checkpoint turns into a chase. An officer is hit and a helicopter searches for the fugitives in the forest.
Seesen – Why exactly the patrol wanted to check the Opel on Saturday (April 6th) is still a secret. It was the start of a dramatic chase with a policewoman being hit, a shot and an accident in the forest.
But first things first: In the early hours of Saturday, the officers said they wanted to stop the Opel driver, but the driver ignored the instructions and fled. The chase led through Münchehof and the Pandelbachtal to Wildemann. There the police officers tried to stop the vehicle, which was probably occupied by two men, in a courtyard entrance.

Policewoman hit, shot fired
As the police officers got out of their patrol car and approached the vehicle, it suddenly drove towards them. A 26-year-old police officer was hit and injured by the vehicle. In this context, shots were also fired from a service weapon. The Opel crashed a few hundred meters further in the forest and the occupants continued their escape on foot.
Thanks to extensive search and manhunt measures, including the use of a police helicopter, the two suspected occupants of the Opel were arrested in the early morning hours in the Wildemann/L 515 area. Both were uninjured and of growing age. The Opel involved in the accident was confiscated and the injured police officer received medical care.
Another police department takes over the investigation
As is usual in cases of police use of firearms, the investigation into the incident is being carried out by another police station for reasons of neutrality. In this case, the neighboring Salzgitter/Peine/Wolfenbüttel police station took over the investigation. (esa)
