So now the time has come: the innkeepers of the Olchinger Kolpingheim are quitting. There weren't enough guests.

Olching - The Kolping Association is now thinking about the future of the building on Wolfstrasse, which it has owned since the 1950s.

The tavern death in Olching continues. The most recent case: the Kolpinghaus on Wolfstrasse. The innkeepers Renate and Günter Sirtl, who have made a name for themselves as Jexhof restaurateurs, are quitting at the end of April.

What's next?

Now the Kolping family is also concerned with what will happen next with the property. “We will have to think about what the future of the house looks like,” says club chairman Maximilian Gigl when asked by Tagblatt. In any case, a new tenant has not yet been sought. After all, times are not easy in the catering industry either.

But Gigl doesn't get any more specific than that. The general meeting may reveal more shortly.

The domicile

The club is proud of its home, as it says on the Kolping Family website. In 1950, after tough negotiations with the municipality (that was still Olching), it was made available to him on a long-term lease. Since then, a lot has been invested in the building, conversion, renovation, expansion, and the volunteers have put thousands of hours of work into it.

They took over the restaurant in the summer of 2022 and revitalized the kitchen with Bavarian delicacies.

Times reduced

Just one year later, in August 2023, it became apparent that things were not going well in the economy on Wolfstrasse. The Sirtls reduced their opening times, only opening on Fridays and Mondays from 5 p.m., and the weekend was canceled. “On some Sundays we sat alone in the inn,” they told the Tagblatt at the time.

They also denied rumors that they would no longer open the door at all. But now the time has come, as confirmed. There were simply not enough guests and it was no longer worth it. The lease ends on April 30th.
