Gusts reaching 110 km/h, and planes stuck in the sky. Storm Kathleen reached the United Kingdom on Saturday April 6 and wreaked havoc on British air traffic. This Sunday, a Turkish Airlines flight was prevented from landing twice at Birmingham Airport due to violent gusts of wind.
The crew tried to land on the tarmac for the first time at 9:45 a.m., but gave up because the plane was so shaken. At 10:04 a.m., second attempt without success, while the weather conditions had deteriorated further. The plane was eventually forced to land at Gatwick Airport, a suburb of London, 225 kilometers from its original destination.
Storm Kathleen complicated the landing of airliners throughout the weekend, particularly in Toulouse, where a Tui flight had to make two attempts.
