Hell is often paved with good intentions... The latest, that of “social food security”, pushed by researchers, environmental activists and farmers in order to fight against food insecurity while promoting sustainable agriculture. Based on the French “Secu” model, beneficiaries contribute according to their means, and receive credits on a food “vital card”, which they can spend in approved businesses. Since April 2024 and for a year, 400 Girondins chosen at random have been experimenting with access to an SSA, supported by the Gironde department and the city of Bordeaux, with the Acclimat'Action association.

Yogurts, carrots, cereals, grated cheese... In a Biocoop in the center of Bordeaux Émeline, a 21-year-old midwife student, contributes according to her resources (10 euros minimum per month), and receives the equivalent of 100 euros per month that she can spend in approved stores.
