That could have ended fatally: A 46-year-old prepared food for himself in his apartment on Parkstrasse in Altenerding on Monday night and then fell asleep on the couch.
Altenerding - A neighbor saw flickering lights around 2 a.m. and called the emergency number. A patrol crew from the Erdinger police was the first to arrive on scene, noticed the smoke and forced entry into the apartment after no one opened the door. The officers found the resident sleeping on the sofa with headphones on while food was burning on the gas stove. He was brought to safety. After initial treatment on site, it turned out that the 46-year-old had remained uninjured. The Altenerding fire department quickly extinguished the fire in the kitchen. The damage is minor. ham
