Great success for the P-Seminar Sculpture at the Geretsrieder High School: ideas that were once on paper are now life-sized. They tell stories - and not just to the students who created them.

Geretsried

– A special day recently took place for the participants in the P-Seminar in Sculpture at the Geretsried High School. As reported, the young men and women received an award from the Ministry of Culture with their project “Isartaler Weibsbilder”. The four state winners were honored in Munich.

P-Seminar creates life-size figures - they stand in the garden of the “rafting company”

As reported, the seminar group, together with their art teacher Matthias Wohlgenannt, the Wolfratshausen Historical Association, the Degerndorf blacksmith Tom Carstens and the Waldram elementary school, designed and produced three-dimensional images that can be read as representatives of over 50 biographies of strong women from the region. The suggestions for the female figures come from the female figures calendar of the Wolfratshausen Historical Association (we reported). First, the students created drawings, then small models made of cardboard, wire, wood and other materials, and finally they made some of them life-size. Three of these figures can already be admired in the garden of the Flößerei inn in Wolfratshausen, and the fourth will be inaugurated on April 13th.

Minister of Education praises outstanding results

Education Minister Anna Stolz is impressed in a statement from the ministry: “The P-Seminar is a core element of professional orientation at high schools and the perfect practical test for the working world of tomorrow! This year the projects are once again incredibly creative, committed and professionally implemented. In order to achieve such outstanding results, you need strong partners at your side. I would like to thank all the teachers for their great commitment as P-Seminar coaches, but also the companies that support our award winners so actively.”

State victory was something special for the students

The award ceremony was something special for the students. “I thought it was great just that we won the district award. But when we found out that we had also won at state level, I was really overwhelmed,” says seminar participant Anna Paul. And Chrissoula Papazilaki probably speaks for all participants when she says how much the group was able to take away from the seminar. “You now have a story in the back of your mind about every woman. That's exactly why I think it's great that we made these sculptures that are accessible to everyone and everyone can read a little bit to find out more about the history."
