From today it is possible to work side by side with your dog or cat at the University of MilanoBicocca. With a specific regulation, the university allows all employees - professors, researchers and technical-administrative and library staff - the possibility of bringing their pet with them to the workplace.
Employees' pets will be able to access the offices if they meet precise preliminary requirements, including the identification microchip, registration in the Pet Animal Registry, health booklet, certification of vaccination prophylaxis and anti-parasitic treatments and, finally, the signing of a policy insurance that provides coverage for any damage caused to people or things by the animal.
From a behavioral point of view, dogs and cats in university spaces must not have problems such as, for example, showing aggression towards people or other animals. The owners will be required to have with them everything necessary for the care of their pets from a hygienic-sanitary point of view.
Access with your pets will not be permitted: in offices that provide direct and continuous contact with the public, in classrooms and educational laboratories, in study rooms, in conference and meeting rooms, in the library and also in canteen spaces and areas intended for coffee breaks . Finally, in places where outpatient healthcare services are provided, similar facilities are provided.
Employees will be able to enjoy the company of their four-legged friend subject to authorization for access by their manager and, in the case of shared offices, this must be accompanied by the formal consent of the other occupants of the room, as specified in the regulation which came into force on 28 March 2024.
