It has been clear for some time that entry to the Maisacher outdoor pool is becoming more expensive. Now there is more bad news: the opening times have to be reduced because they don't have enough staff.

Maisach – The outdoor swimming pool opens its doors on Wednesday, May 15th. Then you have to pay a higher entrance fee - with reduced opening times. It was already clear that it would be closed on Mondays in order to save personnel costs. But now there is another setback: at the beginning of the year, a fully employed lifeguard resigned and there is now a staff shortage. Although two temporary workers were found, they do not completely compensate for the full-time position.

An early bathing day is no longer necessary

Therefore, opening hours must be reduced, as was announced at the most recent local council meeting. Except on Thursday and Saturday, it always opens an hour later. It closes at 7:30 p.m. instead of 8 p.m. (or 9 p.m., as is currently the case on Tuesday and Friday). Only on Sundays it stays open until 8 p.m. In addition, you can only have the early bathing day on Thursday; the day on Tuesday is no longer available.

The local council decided on the following opening times: Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Thursday 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. As usual, these times apply until the end of August. From September 1st there will be a further reduction, and in bad weather it will generally only be open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, September 8th is the last day of opening.

From May 15th, single admission for adults costs 5.40 euros. Children and young people up to 16 years pay 3.50 euros. What is new is that the age limit for free entry has been reduced from six to four years and that an entry/season ticket must be purchased to take part in swimming courses.

6.23 euros deficit per visitor

There will also be a seven percent increase in five-ticket tickets and season tickets. It will be another seven percent more expensive in the 2025 season and again in the 2026 season.

The local council had already decided this last December - to reduce the deficit. Because for the 2023 season with around 43,000 paying bathers, the municipality had to pay an additional 220,000 euros. Current calculations show that the municipal administration had to pay 6.23 euros per visitor last season (also taking into account depreciation and interest).

After all: there is no saving on the water temperature. After discussion, it was decided that the water in the pools would remain at 24 degrees. The showers are also not converted to cold water.
