Following the displacement of Nación Seguros officials investigated by Justice in the case of alleged scams, the Government does not plan to move forward with new dismissals. In fact, the head of the state company,
Alfonso Torres
, the main political supporter of the ejected general manager
Mauro Tanos,
resists internal pressures thanks to the fact that he has two important allies:
Karina Mile
i and, especially,
Eduardo "Lule" Menem
, who has gained increasing influence in Banco Nación's main business unit.
Yes, the departure of two other directors of Nación Seguros was confirmed in the last few hours within the framework of a general restructuring that would have led to the beheading of Nación Reaseguros last week, as reported by this newspaper. The objective of the plan, apparently, is that there are only three operational directors left to coordinate the three firms of the largest state bank (Insurance, Reinsurance and Retirement) as a way of saving resources.
The official insurance scandal and those internal movements, however, did nothing other than generate a climate that was at times rarefied in the institution whose headquarters was designed by architect Alejandro Bustillo.
The promotion of Tanos to general manager of Nación Seguros had been resisted within the firm but also by sister Nación Reaseguros and within the Bank's own hierarchical structure.
The thing is that the former Camporista leader had worked in the department of public organizations during the administration of Alberto Fernández
and for some officials he could not be unaware of the operation with the official policies in which the famous brokers intervened.
But the former manager was supported by Torres, who considered him unaware of any type of irregular maneuver. "
Alfonso told me that he is going to defend him to the death because he knows that he is innocent," a qualified official source
consulted confided last week. But this support could not prevent the decision from the highest level of the Executive last Friday to leave Tanos and the purchasing manager,
Federico Eufemio
, after being raided by federal judge
Julián Ercolini
, who is substantiating the case investigating the alleged irregularities in the contracts signed during the previous administration with public organizations.

The current head of Nación Seguros is aware of the internal pressures but
remains "firm"
in his position. He has the support of the president's sister and his main political supporter "Lule" Menem. This
shielding
protects it from possible internal questions. Within the country's largest state bank there is some concern because the scandal has reduced the number of operations and, in fact, affected the business.
"No one hires anything since the case broke," acknowledged a qualified official source consulted.
Official debate on the decree
The other internal debate of the ruling party is what to do with decree 823 of 2021, signed by Alberto Fernández, which
unified the contracting of all state insurance in Nación Seguros, without strictly prohibiting the intermediation of producers.
In the company itself they argue that a possible "legislative" amendment is outside their competence. It is in this context that all eyes point to
Nicolás Posse
and the legal advisors of the Chief of Staff. But in that dependency there is still nothing resolved.
Other official voices, meanwhile, question that for now there is no desire to "modify the
status quo
" that cemented the aforementioned decree despite the promises of the Executive to end any intermediation with official insurance. In fact, there are still brokers in 15% of the agreements.

The President's sister also has a leader she trusts at Banco Nación, Vice President
Darío Wasserman
, whom she met in 2021 when the Milei made their entry into active politics. The head of the institution,
Daniel Tilliard,
is supported by Minister
Guillermo Francos
(Interior), whom he knows from a previous time at BAPRO.
