Amazon's online supermarket opens for everyone

In Milan, Rome, Turin and Bologna, from today the possibility of doing food shopping online on Amazon, receiving it at home the same day, is extended to everyone. The Amazon Fresh service, which offers fruit, vegetables, dairy products, meat, fish, household and personal care products, was until now reserved only for Amazon Prime members: thousands of purchases were made per week in the four cities in which it is active. Now the opportunity is available to all residents in the four areas served, reserving some advantages for Prime customers in terms of discounts and promotions. “We are always looking for solutions to make our customers' shopping even simpler, faster and more convenient - underlines Camille Bur, head of Amazon Fresh for Germany, Italy and Spain - This innovation will allow Amazon to offer customers a 'purchase that can guarantee them wide selection, value and convenience.' Those who choose to order their shopping on Amazon Fresh and/or Pam Panorama (with which a partnership has been signed) by accessing the amazon.it website or through the app can opt for two-hour windows for delivery; Prime members have the benefit of times further reduced to one hour. The first Amazon Fresh in Italy was born in Milan in November 2015, followed by Rome in 2019, then Turin and Bologna in 2021. The capital's distribution center with its 4,400 square meters is the largest, while Bologna (in Calderara di Reno ) with 1,200 m2 it is the smallest; all warehouses have areas at different temperatures for frozen foods, fruit, vegetables and fresh products. Overall, there are 215 employees in the four centers, all with permanent contracts. The time windows for deliveries from Monday to Sunday are 2 hours, from 8am to midnight (only in Bologna from 10am to 10pm). You can find products from the main national brands. “The objective is also to try to enhance the different territories in which we are present with specific products - explains Manuela Chiara Rosso, head of Amazon Fresh in Italy - therefore we have activated collaborations with local suppliers: in Bologna for example with Forno Brisa, in Rome, Milan and Turin with their respective milk plants. Not only that, we always try to broaden the offer in relation to the requests of customers in the area, so when we arrived in the Emilian capital we immediately tried to enhance fresh pasta and tortellini in particular". According to Amazon data, the days in which online shopping is done the most are those immediately after the weekend or immediately before and in the evening hours, when it rains then there are peaks.
