Ted Toleman, founder of the Formula 1 team where Ayrton Senna took his first steps, has died at the age of 86. The team, present in the paddocks from 1981 to 1985, revealed Senna to F1, when he finished second in the Monaco Grand Prix, in the rain, for his first season in the speed elite in 1984, the team's best result in F1. That year Toleman achieved two more podiums with the Brazilian, in Great Britain and Portugal.
Toleman was later sold to Italian clothing brand Benetton, which competed in the championship from 1986 to 2001, winning two drivers' titles in 1994 and 1995 with another legend, Michael Schumacher, at the wheel, and the constructors' title in 1995. Benetton was then bought by Renault , who currently races under the colors of Alpine in F1.
