A few days before his entry into the Monte-Carlo tournament, the American professional tennis player Sebastian Korda had his luxury watch stolen in the middle of the street, in the neighboring town of Roquebrune-Cap-Martin (Alpes-Maritimes ). Two individuals attacked the 27th world player in the ATP ranking last Thursday around 7:30 p.m., before fleeing with his Richard Mille worth 300,000 euros, specifies the departmental directorate of public security.
This theft was not committed without violence since he was allegedly
“thrown to the ground”
then held down by one of the two protagonists while the other took care of snatching the watch from him. The two suspects were masked and helmeted, adds a police source. They then fled and have still not been found.
Several thefts of luxury watches each year
Sebastian Korda immediately went to the Menton police station to file a complaint. An investigation was opened and the investigations were entrusted to the judicial police. On the Côte d'Azur, several thefts of luxury watches are reported each year, particularly in the west of the department, where around thirty watches have been stolen.
On Tuesday, the player still competed and won his match in the main draw of the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters, the first important tournament of the season on clay. He was then eliminated in the second round by the Italian Jannick Sinner, one of the favorites for this Masters 1000.
