2024-04-11T05:11:04.020Z

Highlights: Rachel Khan is a lawyer, screenwriter, actress and writer. She is the author of The Republic put to the test of words (L'Observatoire, 2024) Khan denounces the manipulation of words in public debate for ideological purposes. She also deplores the “soft lexicon” of elected officials and calls for taking control of the vocabulary. She says that the language of the Republic has become an ideological Trojan horse for those who seek to undo the unity of the nation. The author says that today many ideologues try to define us themselves. Their labels really only serve to keep us as targets, she says, and they are seeking to disqualify her from public office. She adds: “I was, for example, said to be “divisive”, or even “extreme right”. Seeking to disqualifying me... I was trying to make a point.” The Republic, by Rachel Khan, is published by Le Figaro, priced £16.99.
