RER B traffic was disrupted this Thursday morning. According to information from LCI, which Le Parisien is able to confirm, these disturbances were caused by the presence of a man “carrying a long weapon” at the Denfert-Rochereau station.
According to our information, around 11 a.m., at the Denfert Rochereau station, a woman and a man called the police and reported the presence of a man dressed in a djellaba, who was allegedly hiding a rifle or rifle under his clothing. Thanks to video surveillance, the police located this man, asleep, in the RER B train, in possession of an unloaded 22 long rifle.
In custody
He was arrested at the Villeparisis/Mitry-le-Neuf station (Seine-et-Marne), penultimate on the line towards Mitry-Claye, fourteen stations from Denfert-Rochereau. The individual was in the company of a second, older man, who rebelled when the suspect was arrested. The two men were taken into custody at the Villeparisis police station.
“Traffic is severely disrupted on the entire line due to operating difficulties,” the line's official X account simply commented shortly after 11 a.m., without specifying around what time it could resume.
After the report, an RER B train was stopped at Châtelet for 30 to 40 minutes for checks.
