The streets in Herrsching have also suffered from the numerous changes in frost and thaw. Both Hechendorfer Straße and Birkenallee are now getting a new surface layer.
Herrsching
– The good news for all residents of Hechendorfer Straße and Birkenallee in Herrsching: You don’t have to expect any additional costs. Both roadways still need to be replaced and urgently. The local council's building committee approved ceiling renovation in both cases at its meeting on Monday.
Axel Eckel, an employee in the municipality's technical construction department, presented the measures to the municipal councilors. Hechendorfer Straße in particular currently presents a sad picture, and every user of the street knows and has perhaps already painfully experienced how deep the holes sometimes are. “Unfortunately we have to intervene more,” explained Ekel. However, not so much that it would have to or could be expanded, because it already is. For the municipality, this means that it has to cover the full costs of the upcoming work.
The damage is now to be repaired with a so-called ceiling renovation. Work will probably take place in five construction phases from the Rieder Strasse intersection to the Rauscher Strasse intersection, said Eckel. The plan is to start during the Pentecost holidays or immediately afterwards.
When asked by local councilor Roland Lübeck (CSU), who pointed to the curbs, some of which were badly broken and damaged, Eckel replied that only the most serious damage would be repaired anyway. So that only a partial change will be carried out. “The budget doesn't provide any more.” Lübeck's concern that the curbs would be replaced by new, sharp-edged ones was therefore unfounded. Lübeck thought this would be a problem on Hechendorfer Strasse. Because vehicles often have to move onto the sidewalk. Lübeck also asked to ensure that the road does not have to be torn up again immediately after the renovation by any pipeline work. Eckel ruled this out. The work was coordinated with the water and wastewater company AWA, and other pipes ran under the sidewalk - “you never know.” Of course, no one is immune from burst water pipes like the one on Mühlfelder Straße.
Even on Birkenallee, only the road surface is being renovated. Initial construction is not possible because the municipality does not own the entire street, explained Mayor Christian Schiller. That's why the damage could only be repaired there by renovating the ceiling, which means that the community has to bear these costs in full. Schiller would prefer a full expansion, “but we have had good experiences with the ceiling renovation in Widdersberg (Dorfstrasse)”. The construction site area will extend from the height of the bus stop to the end of house number 4. The local councilors approved both measures.
